This historical route will allow you to get to know the medieval town of Aurec-sur-Loire and its many preserved remains.
Throughout your journey, you will be able to see:
– The Château du Moine-Sacristain: residence of the Monk Sacristan from 1400 to 1781
– The Tour des Bourguignons and the ramparts, an important defense tower
– Le Verger Conservatoire, an orchard intended to safeguard the fruit heritage of the Loire Valley.
– The David Gate and watchtower, main gate of the city from the 12th century.
– The Bailli's House, house of the Bailli of Aurec and house of justice.
– The Clerk’s House
– The Church, monument from the 12th century
– The Remains of the Priory
– The Hôtel de Chazournes, formerly the winter residence of the lords of Chazournes.
– The Gate and Garden Tower: North entrance to the town.
– The Auberge le Tournebride, 15th and 16th centuries
– The Château Seigneurial, Renaissance courtyard and park (many species of trees are planted in the park, notably exceptional cedars, wellingtonias, Chilean araucaria…
– The wrought iron gate
