Le way to Santiago de Compostela from Cluny and Lyon crosses the plateaus of the Gorges de la Loire passing through Valprivas before joining the Puy-en-Velay.
Two departures: Lyon and Cluny, for an arrival in Velay, Puy-en-Velay, city historical starting point of the pilgrimage et European capital of the Ways of Santiago de Compostela and a true crossroads of upstream itineraries.

From Cluny, in Burgundy, and its famous abbey, hikers set off to discover the Beaujolais mountains, Roanne and its vineyards to arrive in Forez where the path from Lyon joins them. From Lyon, capital of the Gauls, the path crosses the Monts du Lyonnais before joining the Forez.
After Montbrison, the 2 paths meet up to Montarcher and enter Haute-Loire via Electoral privilege and along the Loire gorges.
