PR 284 Les Dames de La Séauve-Bénite
In the footsteps of Saint Marguerite, discover the bucolic Semène valley, the Cistercian abbey of La Séauve-sur-Semène, the miraculous Sainte-Marguerite spring, the Bois des Dames, the village of Paulin and its assembly house.
Route details
Description
1. From the Paulin car park, opposite, take the tarred path for 100 m, turn left, follow the path, reach the power line and continue.
2. At the intersection, turn right at 60°, then follow the path.
3. At the next crossing, turn left, pass between two houses, and follow the path to the road. Turn left then the road on the right. Arrived on the D 12, turn right then the path on the left; it leads to Salgotier.
4. In the hamlet, turn left, then take the path to the right for 400 m. At the T-junction, take the path to the right, continue along the road and
win Le Bouchet.
5. Bypass the first house on the left, follow the path, skirt the sewage treatment plant on the right and the Semène, reach the abbey by passing under the arch of the house then under the D 500 bridge and cross the car park.
6. Go around the abbey on the left, along the pétanque area, follow the road
to the cross, cross the D 500 and take the paved road opposite.
Arrived at the Sainte-Marguerite subdivision, continue straight on towards Les
Granges passing between the Sainte-Marguerite oratories (source Sainte
Daisy). Further on, along a farm.
7. Follow the paved road opposite for 200 m, then turn right and follow the edge of the wood. Take the wide forest path on the right. It crosses the Bois des Dames. Do not take the paved road, turn right on the grassy path passing between two fields. Enter the wood turning left, cross the stream and reach the starting point by crossing the hamlet of Paulin.
