The Semene:
From its sources, at the Col de la République, in the Massif du Pilat, until it flows into the Loire, La Semène covers more than 40 km. Its wild and pleasant banks, as well as its deep gorges, ideal for walks and outdoor activities, sometimes make us forget the preponderant role that the river played in local economic life. Its fish-filled waters fed families and irrigated the fields. It is also its driving force which was used to operate sawmills, mills, turning mills and grinding mills for several centuries, and for the production of electricity, more recently.
