Maison de la Passementerie: The work of the weavers in Saint-Just-Malmont would have started at the end of the XNUMXth century. This work initially seemed essentially feminine,
and most of the young girls brought a loom as a dowry. At the end of the XNUMXth century, the number of inhabitants increased from year to year thanks to the dynamism of the ribbon industry.
The work was done in the factory: a large room, very bright, although sheltered from the rays of the sun which could dull the colors of the ribbons. The arrival of electricity in 1902 in Saint-Just-Malmont made the work less painful. It was during this period that the golden age of trimmings began
saint-justaire, with 2 trades listed in the town. The progressive mechanization of the textile industry marked the end of trimmings at home, but today a few large companies still perpetuate the town's ribbon-making tradition. A group of passionate volunteers
awaits at the Maison de la passementerie to help you discover the history of Saint-Just-Malmont.
