"A route that goes from castle to castle on the plateaus of the Gorges de la Loire. Short but sporty circuit! Although classified red, it is accessible to any mountain biker with a little experience and strength. A departure at heart of the historic village of Chambles towards the Château d'Essalois below and its interpretation center of the Gorges de la Loire. Be careful though on the descent which follows the Château d'Essalois. The first switchbacks interrupt the rhythm, but then follows a wide and rapid descent which requires a certain amount of caution.
After 5 kilometers of descent and arriving at the hamlet of Cessieux, we begin the ascent to the Chambles plateau. A long climb, tiring but without any particular difficulty apart from its length. The vision of Notre-Dame de Grace is offered to mountain bikers halfway up the slope. The percentages are never frightening and allow you to gain altitude gently before arriving in Biesse. The return to Chambles is by road without pedaling.”
