Couriot Musée de la mine

If the only thing that reminds you of mine is your pencil, it's time to go for a walk at Puits Couriot. Before, this is where miners went underground to extract coal.
Now, the site is classified as a historical monument and we have more fun there than at the time. The museum recounts the adventure of Saint-Etienne around coal and offers a short underground descent. We believe it, it shakes in every sense of the word. Outside, change of atmosphere. We start slowly with a pétanque and local beer before then we will warm up in the park before moving around. Just opposite, all this agitation does not prevent the slag heaps from continuing to consume themselves quietly. These two hills of mine tailings are off-limits to the public, but you know the residents of Saint-Etienne…they are often the terrain of expression for somewhat rebellious artists.

Ticket offices close at 17 p.m.
Closing of the rooms from 17:45 p.m.
Further information) :
Mine gallery accessible by an elevator. An identically reconstructed gallery whose ground is sometimes uneven (presence of rail, stones, etc.), poorly lit. Gallery not accessible to people in wheelchairs.

Sustainable tourism

Since 2010, the Joseph Sanguedolce Park has been listed as a Historic Monument. If you look closely, you can see the traces of the past: rails,
signs, low walls, scales... The land was cleared after the closure in 1973 to make way for a park transformed and laid out to showcase this vernacular heritage of the mine. So keep your eyes peeled!
