Moulin de Vignal

Let yourself be carried away by the sound of water to the Vignal mill, in the Andrable valley, and enter a forgotten world of progress.
The wheels of this mill built in 1783 are still turning, to the delight of young and old.
In Apinac, there is the last mill still in operation. Discover the 2 millstones for bread and animal flour, the oil mill and the old clover beater. A beautiful walk in perspective which revives the profession of miller and perpetuates ancestral gestures.
It’s a pleasant walk, a visit that is both fun and educational, to do with family, friends…

History, culture and heritage

For flour, oil or clover, visit the Vignal mill. About ten kilometers from St Bonnet-le-Château, discover the exemplary restoration of this mill dating from the end of the 18th century.
On the banks of the Andrable, in Apinac, there remains the last mill still in operation! Thanks to the work of the association, ancestral gestures (grinding, turning the wheel) are perpetuated.
You can thus visit the 2 millstones for bread-making and animal flour, the oil mill and the cloverleaf beater. A nice walk in perspective that brings the profession of miller back to life.

Tips and Suggestions

Many activities and workshops for families.
Family Plus Nature label.
Two easy hiking trails starting from the mill, one of 2.2 km and the other of 3.2 km, with elevation changes of around a hundred meters. These two loops allow you to discover the two slopes of the Andrable, with various ecosystems, natural or agricultural, as well as a succession of old mills.
