Village de Saint-Paul-en-Cornillon

If by chance during a walk you go for a walk around Saint-Paul-en-Cornillon, expect the unexpected. Take the Chemin des Jonquilles, and let the magic of the site and its stories take over. Giant.
When the mist invades the valley, you quickly believe you are in the middle of Celtic lands as the silhouette of the castle perched at the top of the Rock is reminiscent of legends from across the Channel.
And yet you are right at the gates of Forez and this Château, which now rejects its visitors (except for the chapel which remains open to visitors), is indeed the southern guardian of Saint Paul en Cornillon.
Here you will find a complete panoply of legends of all kinds around the castle, the churches and even the belvedere (minus the bagpipes and the ghosts). And the air of nothing that allows to understand a lot of things.
Family quarrels, stories of impossible love (Charlotte de Suze and Robert de Jarjaye in the Romeo and Juliet version), tales of vendettas (with a manhunt and the murder of the Comte du Forez), looting, fires.
And you haven't seen it all yet, nor heard it all. Impossible to leave this site without having climbed to the top of the legendary Mont Fayn.
Up there, you will find an orientation table and an incredible view of the Gorges de la Loire (with the Pertuiset bridge in the background). Oh yes ! You may also hear about giants § Nothing to worry about, they are busy forging.
