The plain of Forez is the 2nd region in Rhône-Alpes for the number of its ponds. The David pond was originally set up for fish farming, now it is a discovery site with an interpretation trail. Over 129 species of birds can be observed.
The domain of the David pond shelters the southernmost of the ponds of the plain of Forez. It represents 30 hectares of stretch of water, natural meadows, small wooded areas as well as a remarkable built heritage (former Forézienne farm, duck pond). The area is classified as a French wetland of European interest (Natura 2000) and ENS. The David pond is home to many fragile and protected animal and plant species. Information panels line the
