From the emblematic castle of Rochebaron, the view of the Loire which stretches out languidly at the foot of Mont du Malorum is remarkable.
The orientation table makes it possible to identify the towns that have developed around the river, mainly Bas-en-Basset and its string of ponds and Monistrol-sur-Loire. Further on, we will observe the granite plateaus, the Yssingelais juices including the famous Pic du Lizieux, the steeple of Lapte - the highest in Haute-Loire - the 640 m Lignon viaduct which allows you to cross the steep valley of the Lignon etc...
At the spectacle of the ever-changing landscape with the lights and the mist which unravels above the Loire and which comes, here and there, to conceal a few details, the attentive eye will follow the flight of the kites, falcons and other birds of prey which play with air currents. Bring your binoculars!

Tips and Suggestions
An aviary is present at the castle and offers the possibility of admiring the birds of prey in their aviaries all year round and of attending free flight demonstrations from April to October.
Location details
Access is via a footpath. Plan a 20/25 minute walk. Remember to equip yourself with good shoes and take water in summer. A small bar offers drinks at the castle. The path is paved on 3/4 and allows access to strollers.
