The Chalencon plateaus, sets for the feature film "Louise Violet"!
Synopsis
This period film directed by Éric Besnard and produced by Nord-Ouest films takes place in 1889, when the Jules Ferry laws were enforced in the countryside.
Louise Violet, a teacher played by Alexandra Lamy, is sent to a small village to impose the school of the Republic there, free, secular and compulsory... a "revolution" in the daily life of families which arouses the opposition of the Mayor of the village. (Grégory Gadebois), the church, the parents, the children…and a challenge for the young teacher!
Shooting
It took place in two stages: in February and March then in May and June 2023 mainly on the Chalencon plateaus, in the municipalities of Tiranges and Saint-André de Chalencon.
An old farmhouse located in the hamlet of Cerces in the town of Tiranges was chosen by Eric Besnard; The reason ? Nothing has changed in this building for decades, which has remained unoccupied for more than 40 years. The whole is totally period and the interior is a real journey through time.
Many scenes of life were also shot in the surrounding countryside as the fields were worked. Sets such as the school have been totally constructed.
No less than 80 technicians and more than 200 extras took over the premises for this cinematographic work, creating a micro-society orchestrated to the millimeter, in this landscape that is usually so serene! An experience and links with all the teams, including the actors of a "great simplicity" that the Tirangeois are not about to forget! As for the technical and artistic team, the natural and preserved sites of this little corner of the Gorges de la Loire destination as well as the warm and authentic welcome of the inhabitants created a real nice surprise!
See you in 2024
