The Gorges de la Dunière, in Saint-Pal-de-Mons, form a place rich in terms of natural and cultural heritage. To discover them in depth, we opted for a morning hike in November, during which we were able to admire magnificent autumnal landscapes.
We completed a route of around ten kilometers in this still wild space, mainly on forest paths. We were then able to admire various species of trees, listen to the birds singing, watch the water flow in the Dunière, what joy for the nature lovers that we are!
During this tour, we did a little history starting with the Chapelle Saint-Julien-La-Tourette, also called Chapelle de Laval, dating from the end of the 11thrd century, in the Romanesque style.
We then discovered the ruins of an old mill, part of the mechanism of which is still visible! And finally, we admired the majestic Suc de Mons, on which a castle stood, around the 12thrd century, now completely destroyed.
The Gorges de la Dunière is a place that is difficult to access but so refreshing! Going with a map or a GPS application is undoubtedly the best thing to do to avoid getting lost in this maze of nature.
