Known by the Monistrolians for its quiet and calm corner in the heart of the city, the site of the Gorges de Bilhard on the edge of the Piat stream seduced me with its beauty and its colors. We left with a friend for a simple walk and we came back with lots of memories!
We continue our way to the next village, Pinet. We take a path on the left and here we are at the beginning of a great adventure...
On the horizon, we see a stream, the colors are bright in spring, we take full eyes! The trees are radiant green, the air is refreshing. We continue our way until we reach a small footbridge that overlooks the stream, then another. On our left a ruined mill, vestiges of the past of this city.
Further on, we arrive at the final bouquet of this walk, the waterfall and the potholes of giants.
What show ! Green, grey, yellow, white and even blue with this beautiful weather! Who would have thought that a landscape like this existed just a stone's throw from the town... The rock on my left allows me to take a little height to capture this moment and admire the view, so beautiful and so relaxing. The sound of water accompanies my thoughts for a moment. Next to me is a third bridge that will allow me to get back to the mainland, even if I admit it, staying here dreaming was pleasant.
More the ride is not over and we are only halfway through our journey. Yes, journey, because what comes next is not easy. We begin a good climb to reach the city center, still amazed by the beauty of the site. The climb is arranged in stairs wide enough which allows us to take a few short breaks, especially in front of the point of view on the Old Castle website, discovered a few years ago and still in archaeological excavations. An explanatory panel will tell you everything about this castle.
Arrival at the end of our ascent
Here we are in the city center and soon we reach the castle park of Bishops. Children play and laugh while the less young discuss and observe. But what is most striking is still this view, in the distance we see Rochebaron Castle. Time for a little well-deserved break, we leave and return to our starting point, the Château des Evêques.
